A Private Online Show for Current and Past Students of Maison Burlesque
Past, present and future Maison Burlesque students are cordially invited to our fortnightly LIVE online burlesque and variety show, streaming your favourite teachers, students and alumni, direct to your lap(top)!
Please note this is a private event, limited exclusively to Maison Burlesque past and current students and staff (of course if a member of your household wants to watch with you that's a'ok!). To join us for a night of debauchery online, send through an application to join our community group on Facebook - The Maison Social Group.
May 16th : Bedroom Ballroom
A Dance Workshop for Couples (or Housemates) with Domino de Jour!
Come get some rhythm in your rumba and some sway in your salsa.... Domino de Jour is bringing you Bedroom Ballroom!
This 1.5 hour online workshop is designed for couples, partners, friends or housemates stuck in isolation together who want some skills to impress when we can all go out again and cut up a rug.
Domino de Jour has spent 7 years of her life teaching ballroom dancing... You can expect to learn how to two step, twirl, waltz and maybe even tango in this workshop meant for two.
Bring a wine or join us after the workshop for our virtual wine tasting social event (contact us for details).
No experience necessary!
**Note: Registration price is per Zoom registration and covers two people (ie, only one booking required per couple, you do not need to register twice!)
May 23rd : Charleston 101 Workshop with Maple Rose
2020 has hit us hard, so let's dance away the blues! Get those toes a’tapping as Maple Rose shows you can Charleston to ANYTHING!
This 1.5h high energy beginner's workshop covers the basics of the Charleston and other iconic dance steps from the 1920s to get you off the couch and kicking up those heels!
No experience required. Just wear something comfy you can dance in! Flat shoes are preferred as we will be moving fast!
May 24th - June 7th : Business for Burlesque
3 week online course with Headmistress Poppy Cherry!
Want to break into the burlesque industry but don’t know where to start? Being a successful burlesque performer requires more than feathers and sparkles... get ready to emerge from isolation with an arsenal ready to present yourself as a pro!
Join seasoned industry professional and Maison Burlesque studio owner Poppy Cherry to learn the nitty gritty of setting up and managing yourself as a small business. Learn how to set up a small business and manage things like invoicing and taxes. We discuss common burlesque rookie mistakes and how not to make them, as well as an overview of the current burlesque industry and its evolution over time. Learn to navigate the minefield that is marketing, promotion, social media, and getting those elusive gigs! Students will be provided with a course booklet emailed prior to course start, and there will be some homework tasks to complete between each session.
This short course is held over 3 weeks for a detailed overview of all you need to know to be a pro!
