How do I use zoom for my online class?

We  know you're worried, but we've got you covered! Read up on all the info you need to know about how you can participate in our online classes HERE in our Zoom User Guide.

When do I receive the recording of my Zoom class?

Links to the Zoom class recordings will be sent out only to the students enrolled in that class the following morning. They will be available to view for for 2 weeks after they are sent out.

Can I enrol in an online class and not participate in real time?

Yes. If you are enrolled in that class you will still get sent the video link the following day so you can catch up.

I live overseas - are there classes that fit my timezone?

Yes! We've added classes throughout the day so there is a class that should fit your timezone! Head to our Class Timetable page and click on the "World Timezones" button - we've already done the math for you!

How do I book a casual class?

All "Tech" classes are available for drop-ins subject to availability. You can book online or in person. Head to our enrolments page and find the classes you want to book into - there you can choose to either book for the whole 4-week term  or just 1, 2 or 3 classes.

I'm keen to do an in-studio Small Group class but would like to know your cleaning procedures...

Then read up on our COVID-19 Studio Policies on our BLOG! Includes some cute videos!

What happens if I'm enrolled in a Studio Small Group class but cannot attend a few due to quarantine?

If a student cannot attend due to illness or mandatory quarantine:

- Do not attend your class if you are unwell or directed to quarantine.

- If you are unable to attend a small-group in person class due to illness or quarantine Maison Burlesque will offer you the option to attend one of our online classes instead for that week.

What happens to my enrolment in a Studio Small Group class if the studio is forced to close?

In the case of a studio shutdown leading to class cancellations due to covid-19, students will receive a class credit equal to the number of classes cancelled. This credit can be used towards a future in-person class or any of our online classes.

Do you offer payment plans?

Deposits can be made to secure a spot in any Maison Burlesque 8 week course only up until 14 days prior to the commencement of term. After this time only full payments will be accepted.

A minimum $75 deposit is required to make a booking. This can be done via email, phone or in person and can be paid via cash, card or bank transfer (a receipt of your transfer must be emailed to us so we can follow up on the transaction on our end).

All balance payments must be paid at least 10 days prior to the commencement of the term. Failure to pay in full by this date will result in the booking being terminated and any deposit payments will be kept as class credit that can be used towards any future class booking.

All class payments are strictly non-refundable.  Deposit plans are not available for 4 week courses or workshops.

What should I wear/bring?

Each class requires different dance wear. Most classes just require you to wear comfy form-fitting clothes you can move in and a short dance heel. This could mean you feel most comfortable in exercise gear, or fun stretchy pin-up lingerie! Please check the "what to bring" section of your class description to ensure you have the right equipment to start your course.

If you are participating in a Showcase class, you will be required to source your own costume with the guidance from your instructor. This will be explained in class.

Which class is best for me?

That is completely suggestive! We recommend you read the disclaimers for each class carefully as some do include strip tease, are gender based, and/or are physically intensive.

Do you offer private lessons?

All of our teachers mentor privately, so feel free to contact the teacher of your choice to organise private lessons. However, we do recommend you begin with group classes as we have an incredibly strong burlesque community here in Melbourne and we wish to feed it. Private consults are usually held at Maison Burlesque at times when classes are not scheduled, and are to be organised through the teacher.

How old do I have to be to do burlesque?

We cater for all ages! Our evening classes and events are 18+, however minors are free to sign up for our special workshops as long as a guardian joins them in the learning experience. No mater what your age we have a class for you!

Are your classes for women only?

I have a back/knee/shoulder injury, can I still join classes?

Students are responsible for ensuring that they are physically and medically fit for the course/class that they are participating in. If in doubt of your suitability for the class please do not hesitate to contact us. During the class students must take care at all times for their own personal safety and must inform the teacher of any physical limitations, current or ongoing injuries or medical conditions they have prior to the commencement of the class. If for any reason you become injured or feel any pain or discomfort during your class you must stop your participation and  inform your instructor immediately.

I am going away for part of the term, can I still join a course?

If possible, please advise your instructor if you are unable to attend your class on any given week. For showcase classes, we recommend students attend 75% of the classes (6 out of 8 weeks) within the schedule to ensure they can keep up with the choreography and blocking. If a student is aware they are going to miss more than 2 classes, then we highly recommend they organise a private tutorial with their teacher to catch up.

My class falls on a public holiday, is it still on?

Yes! All classes run as per usual on public holidays, unless otherwise specified.

I have signed up for multiple classes - is there a "loyalty program"?

Yes! For students enrolled in an 8 week Showcase course you are eligible to receive a $10 discount on all subsequent 4-8 week courses within the same term.

Discounts can only be applied by our reception staff and cannot be applied once you have already booked - contact info@maisonburlesque.com.au or phone us or pop into reception during our opening hours to book in person.
