With brand new studios imposing over Bridge Road in the heart of Richmond, Maison Burlesque is the home of burlesque in Melbourne. Our beautiful boutique studios are designed for dance classes, hair & makeup workshops, hens parties,  catered functions and more!

 

Far from your traditional studio, our aim at Maison Burlesque is to provide delightful, memorable experiences for show ponies from all walks of life - incorporating a burlesque, vintage and retro flair!

Priding ourselves on performance development, we believe we are more than just a dance studio. With small class sizes and the option of one-on-one tutorage, we strive to make anybody feel like the performer they wish to be. Students have the option to perform at our end of term "Cherry Popper's Showcase" (the LARGEST burlesque show in the world), and work on solo acts with the chance to try them out on our very own stage!

COMPANY DIRECTOR - POPPY CHERRY

​

Co-founder and now sole director of Maison Burlesque, Poppy Cherry has been a key figure on the Melbourne Burlesque scene for over 10 years. With an extensive list of achievements and performances both on and off the stage, Poppy Cherry is a headmistress, burlesque performer, MC, producer, stylist, teacher, and pastie maker… Is there anything this little lady can’t do? Starting her burlesque career in 2009 as a resident performer at the iconic Burlesque Bar, Poppy's theatrical leanings led her to working as Melbourne's cheekiest potty-mouthed cheesecake MC - she is a regular hostess of the Burlesque Showboat and Cherry Poppers Showcase and has also hosted events such as Burlesque Idol, Australian Burlesque Festival, The Burlesque Cruise (on P&O Pacific Aria) and more!

Having performed her unique brand of tease nation wide, Poppy’s production credits also include working as Entertainment Manager for Burlesque Bar, the Stage Manager for the Australian Burlesque Festival national tour, Entertainment Manager and resident MC for the Burlesque Showboat, Entertainment Manager for Phillip Island Burlesque Festival, as well as numerous of her own productions including Stage Fright!, Poppy’s Peepshow, The Hoochie Coochie Club, Burlesque De Vine, The Velvet Grind, the annual Oktoberfest Burlesque event and weekly shows at the brand new Bar Pigalle.

Poppy's main aim at Maison Burlesque is to create a safe community space for people from all walks of life to come together and feel free to creatively express themselves while most importantly, having fun!
