Our Boylesque instructor is really a character. Born into a world of dance, Egson Ham's whole career revolves around moving and shaking, with his name bedazzled in neon lights. How did you first come into the world of Burlesque? What was it that drew you to the art form?
Well, like most starting out burlesque performers, I was bored and horny. I had been working as a dancer for a couple of years, and Zelia Rose had just won Miss Burlesque Australia and I thought... I could do that.
How would you describe your unique style?
I would describe it verbally
How did you decide upon your burlesque/performer name?
My burlesque name was given to me by Miss Friby, kinda like a STD. And just like a STD, you wanna make sure your burlesque name is worth it.
What is your favourite thing about being a burlesque performer?
Well I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over Australia, meet some amazing people, and work in some incredible venues... but honestly, sometimes the best thing is just sitting around eating Savoury Shapes and making it #Art.
What's the funniest/craziest thing that has ever happened to you during a performance?
Nothing. I’m very professional.
...Ok except for one time when I was doing a (non-strip) number and realised at the end that my fly was down. And it was an awkward quickchange, so I was also going commando the whole time.
But hey, made a few Instagram followers out of it, so all good.

Who are your burlesque icons?
My biggest icons include Melbourne Queen FembotXYZ, Alotta Fagina from Austin Powers (but just that silhouette strip scene), and the end credits of the movie Burlesque
Where do you gain your inspiration from?
I watch a lot of X factor and Got Talent videos. I often draw my inspiration more from the losers than the winners.
Have you faced any challenges in starting burlesque or developing your burlesque career?
Nup.
What advice do you have for new and emerging performers?
My best advice is to think of really good dancing, and then DO that really good dancing.
