Then come along to learn how to develop an act, and keep it developed with one of Melbourne’s leading act makers who has worked with some of Australia’s leading Burlesque, Circus and Vaudeville performers. With an impressive repertoire of more than 100 acts under her own belt, multiple seasoned/touring works and a growing repertoire of seasoned Burlesque shows developed under her direction (Catch Jazida, Adult Bubble Show, Confessions of an Aerobics Instructor), Miss Friby is certainly no stranger to getting something stage ready and for the first time ever, Miss Friby is teaming up with Maison Burlesque to offer a full day masterclass for emerging and established performers in Melbourne. Learn the key tricks and tips that Miss Friby incorporates into her own show/act making process, with an all day workshop that is informative, practical and a true game changer for performance development across a range of creative styles. This full day exploration will include dance technique and choreography creation, concept development and act structure, comedy and audience engagement, followed by the development of an existing act/idea that you are exploring within your own work, through an open direction masterclass. This workshop is perfect for any performer keen to refine their act making skills, both creative concept and performance quality, with a no-nonsense approach to ‘hows’ of creating memorable work. If you work with her, prepare to level up.’ - Jazida, Multi Award Winning Burlesque performer and producer TEACHER BIOGRAPHY: With a First Class Honours accreditation in ‘Nineteenth Century Burlesque Traditions (2014), Elizabeth has made her mark on the vaudeville, cabaret and burlesque circuit, with two Green Room Award nominations (2012/15), a Fields Award nomination for her 'Contribution to Australian Vaudeville' (2015) and act direction for the winning entries of Miss Burlesque Australia 2014 (Zelia Rose), Mr Boylesque Australia 2015 (Egson Ham) and Miss Burlesque Australia 2019 (Bettie Bombshell). As principle performer/producer for boutique production company, Miss Friby, Elizabeth has been presenting and producing critically acclaimed Cabaret, Vaudeville and burlesque works for a range of venues and events including The National Gallery of Victoria (Art After Dark Series 2012), Splendour in the Grass (2012-17), Woodford Folk Festival (2012-2014), Australia’s Got Talent (Finalist 2013) and The World Famous Spiegeltent (2012) to name a few. Elizabeth’s keen eye for high end production and immersive arts, has seen her work as a freelance producer for major multi-arts festivals including The Village Festival (2017), The Town Festival (2018), Leaps & Bounds Music Festival (2018) and Rainbow Serpent Festival (2015-18). Most recently, Elizabeth has been working closely with Jazida Burlesque as the dramaturg and director for touring Burlesque Show, ’Catch Jazida’ (to be staged in 2020). Elizabeth’s workshops have been featured at many industry events Spinfest Circus Festival (2017/18), Congress on Undress (2017), BB’s House of Burlesque (2017) and she also works with professional artists across the genres of circus, film, web series, theatre, cabaret, music & dance to deliver high quality work and mentor their creative practise.
