WORKSHOP 1: ZELIA ROSE Teacher Bio: "Rose steals the stage" as written by The Age and this illustrious talent has graced many from theatres, festivals, & productions worldwide. Zelia came from the world of dance and theatre to become one of Australia's most in demand showgirls. Having won "Best Debut" in the reputable Burlesque Hall of Fame, Las Vegas to a standing ovation and rapturous applause. She is also the title holder of Miss Burlesque Australia 2014 & noted in Australia's top 10 burlesque artists. Her performances take in everything from the essence of Old World Vaudeville, Bawdy Caricature, & Highflying Movement. Zelia is known for her onstage Mojo and Prowess producing performances that are vivid, opulent and power packed. Class Description: Burlesque Movement 101 Zelia will teach you how to nail those angles and lines in a movement based workshop focused on Body awareness and Style. You can expect Stretching , Strenghtening, Dance Teachniques and key factors on the showgirl 101. You'll learn basic movements to accentuate your shape and improve your style whilst gaining invaluable knowledge from dance expert and burlesque superstar Zelia Rose. WORKSHOP 2: JACQUELINE FUREY Teacher Bio: The spirit of the redhead comes in many exotic forms; the mermaid, the nymph, the witch and the fire hazard. Dancing gracefully across the stage and the minds of many, Jacqueline Furey is the embodiment of the all fantasies you never knew you had. A modern muse, Jacqueline is extensively trained in dance and is a qualified dance teacher. She trains Burlesque Dancers, both budding and professional at the Bombshells Burlesque Academy in Brisbane. Her dexterity in dance includes feather fan dancing, fire eating, sword balancing, Ballet and even Tap. And her ability to transcend her choreography with creativity and seduction is the magic which transforms a dancer into an burlesque artist. Standing in the Burlesque Industry, Jacqueline Furey is an Artist a Teacher and a Producer with accruing accolades. Standing on the stage... she is the Human Heatwave Class Description: Fan Dance with Jacqueline Furey Voted “Most Graceful” 2014 at the Australian Burlesque Community Awards, Jacqueline is widely known for her delicate, fluid and entrancing fan dance style. In this 1.5 hour workshop, Jacqueline will teach her unique techniques from the foundation up covering posing and positioning, extension and lines, fan holds and transitions. The workshop will also include relevant stretching, flexibility, warm up and warm down steps as well as a mini routine with some of her favourite moves. WORKSHOP 3: DIRTY MARTINI 'International Super Star of the burlesque stage' Class Description: “The Ultimate Guide to Knocking them Dead: Burlesque character and proper stage deportment” Have you always wondered why some people “have it” and some people don’t? When you see a performer that seems to not only own what they’re doing, but also the stage around them and the seat you are sitting in, do you ask what it is that they’ve got that makes them so special? Do you wonder how it’s possible that a performer can capture an audience and make them feel as if they are looking right at you? Having “it” is not a birthright; it’s a technique that can be learned. The mystery is now solved. Let Miss Dirty Martini teach you the building blocks of stage personality and let her help you to bring out your inner diva. Experience exercises that develop an awareness of personal space and help to highlight the importance of the space that an individual performer carves out within their stage environment. Use Dirty Martini’s years of performance experience as a solo artist and member of the corps de ballet to guide you through the process of developing your individuality and importance as a performer that will make you stand out from the crowd. WORKSHOP 4: DIRTY MARTINI 'International Super Star of the burlesque stage' Class Description: “The Basic Bump and Grind” Join Classically trained dancer Miss Dirty Martini as she breaks down the basics of burlesque dance for dancers of all levels. Perfect for those students who have not experienced a movement class before, Miss Martini introduces the classical dance class structure in a friendly and positive atmosphere to get anyone ready for their first turn around a stage. Class starts with a warm up emphasising movement based in jazz, contemporary and Middle Eastern dance techniques that strengthen the abdominal core and help to promote an economy of movement within the body. Proper alignment and coordination is the focus while students learn how to shake what they’ve got and carry it with pride. The class progresses with exercises developed to enhance proper deportment and stage presence enhancing each person’s individuality. Known for her luxuriously buxom body, strawberry blonde locks, haughty face and extravagant costumes. She combines her graceful style with dangerous golden-age grindhouse. After being crowned Miss Burlesque Australia 1st runner up in 2014 and a two-time winner of Miss Burlesque Queensland and Miss Classic (2014, 2012). 2015 saw her selected to compete in the debut section at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas and headline the Perth International Burlesque Festival. Alyssa Kitt has been teaching burlesque since 2010 and has taken her special brand of body positive vava voom through the United States and Canada. She is a classically trained musician and dancer with over fifteen years of stage experience. Her teaching style revolves around developing stage presence, musicality and deepening one’s self confidence through burlesque moves. Class Description: Big, Bad, Booty! Storm the stage, with this ground-shaking, earth-quaking, lesson in how to move your big, bad, booty. Let the queen of the curves school you in putting the 'clap' in thunderclap and show you how to release your inner-wild woman with this hair-flicking, butt-kicking hour and a half workshop.
